An anecdote is a person's past experience. We can use it in our essay. Anecdote has some benefits. It can make people be interested in essay more easily if an author write a funny  anecdote at the introduction of the essay. Sometimes, anecdotes are used to give moral lessons. Also, when readers can not understand, it helps reader's understanding. In addition, a bond of sympathy can be developed between authors and readers. So, I think it is very useful skill. We had better try to use this skill in our essay or free-writing.
